General Info

At purchase you get an official invoice. In case you would like to reimburse the course fee with your employer make sure to use the proper address required. Invoices cannot be re-issued with formal changes (such as billing address) later on.

Initial course access is 2 years from the date of purchase, which can be extended if desired.

To be able to follow all practical exercises in the BioVoxxel courses there are some pre-requisites to consider:

  • Computer with:
    • possibilities to install software (such as Fiji, Inkscape, Ilastik, Miniconda,…)
    • stable internet access
    • computer mouse
    • optimally, 2 monitors to watch and follow the exercises in parallel
  • Computer System minimal requirement
    • Windows 10/11
    • Linux Jammy Jellyfish (and above)
    • MacOS BigSur (and above)

BioVoxxel cannot guarantee that all software required for the courses runs flawless on all kinds of computer systems (especially not on MacOS) and we cannot offer installation help services for individuals. However, if you find a mistake or problem in the installation instructions please contact us.

Therefore, before you purchase a course, please try to install the software mentioned in the installation section (check if the course of interest offers a preview for the installation instructions) to test if it principally works.

FAQ

Why is the course access limited to 3 years / 36 months?

A standard PhD thesis or PostDoc period is around 3 years or a bit more. Most start with data analysis and presentation after the first year in a bigger range. We want to give you access for the normally necessary time to do the course initially and then come back and revisit the topics.
Times change and so does software and methods. After 3 years some courses might need substantial updates, will be discontinued or exchanged for new ones. You don’t want to rely on outdated methods.
Therefore, we ensure that the course content is up-to-date for minimally the time you own it. By then you might also already have internalized many of the procedures and not need the exercises anymore.
And let’s be honest… if you did not look at the course in 3 years at all, chances are low that you will thereafter.
But if you ask nicely, we can give you an extension period.

Will everything work on all computer systems?

Generally, it should.
But we are talking about computers! So, most likely, some hick-ups can occur during installation
We cannot guarantee that, since computer systems change rapidly and especially Apply introduces strong restrictions on open source software. So far, all tools work on all systems but we cannot speak for future software releases or other software developers.
